About Us

About Us

We believe education brings opportunity, and we’re on a mission to support global literacy by ensuring access to engaging and culturally relevant books and learning materials for those least served by formal education.

We’re passionate about making knowledge accessible to all, equally.
From the jungles of Papua New Guinea, to the deserts of Ethiopia and bomb shelters in war-ravaged Ukraine, Library For All is already supporting more than 560,000 children on their learning journey.
One study revealed that children reading with us could recognise 71% more words than their peers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support global literacy by ensuring access to engaging and culturally relevant books and learning materials for those least served by formal education.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create books and technology-enabled education tools that improve learning outcomes for 20 million children by 2030.

Our Founder

While Library For All’s global operations are based in Australia, the catalyst was a disaster of epic proportions over 15,000 kilometres away. The year was 2010, and Haiti was hit by a destructive earthquake. Library For All Founder, Rebecca McDonald was deeply moved by the shocking images of large scale suffering and so relocated from her Brisbane home to volunteer on community projects.

What affected her most during her years in Haiti was seeing classrooms with hundreds of children that had no books. As a keen reader of e-books herself, the idea for an accessible, culturally relevant digital library hit Rebecca like a lightning bolt.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Rebecca founded Library For All giving children around the world access to books and knowledge.

Today, Library For All’s growing global team of innovators – still including Rebecca McDonald – is harnessing technology to disrupt the publishing and education sectors. The solutions are working: hundreds of thousands of children across the world are learning and reading culturally relevant books, in their own language, every single day.
